Framed Prints
My finished framed prints are high resolution, archival, framed with care and excellence, something which I am truly proud of and, if I dare say it, just stunning.
Frames are the highest quality and include high grade 87% UV acrylic, multi layered mat boards, spaced for a rich depth from glass appearance and are professionally handmade for every print.
Many of my prints are totally unique; many are once in a life time shots and are almost impossible for me or anyone else to replicate.
None of my prints are mass produced. I personally individually print every print.
Colours are as real to life as life can be.
I only shoot RAW to allow post developing so as I can squeeze the utmost from the digital files.
From the time I start with the RAW digital files my whole aim is to post develop and process these to produce a true to life photo to reflect what I saw and experienced at sea. It seems that every shot is different so this process allows me far more control over set in camera perimeters. It is a process which can be very time consuming but one which I enjoy. I know I have it right when I can feel my heart start to race as I relive that moment I see in my print.
 Some of the tasks of processing include;
Rotate the photo to achieve a strait horizon simply because it has been impossible to counter the rocking of the boat when composing the shot.
Remove any lens induced purple fringing.
Run noise removal software to remove induced ISO 400 noise.
Apply a small amount of very selective sharpening with care not to produce any visible halo.
Colour balance if needed.
Check for any blown out highlights and redevelop or discard if necessary.
I may also try different RAW converting software as some programs give a more natural look on certain files than others.
I use a colour corrected profiled monitor and print with an Epson printer using only OME (Original Equipment Manufacturer) archival inks and papers.
I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to printing. One sure way to ensure the excellence and natural colours I desire is to print my own prints and have hands on quality and colour control.
I digitally apply my signature to the lower right hand corner of my prints and I describe and personally sign the back of each framed print.
Prints displayed here have been resized and saved as compressed jpeg files for web site use and speed of viewing.  Although producing smaller files ideal for web pages compressed jpeg degrades image quality and produces unsightly artifacts. Jpeg artifacts typically appear around subject edges as distorted halo. These artifects ARE NOT present in the high resolution files used for printing.
Unlike many photographers, I do not apply any watermarks or anything to prevent copying of prints displayed here. If you would like a web size (low resolution jpeg) copy for personal use, just right click, print and enjoy.

My goal is to produce low volume high quality framed prints from images that are out of the ordinary and about the sea.

My finished framed prints are high resolution, archival and framed by craftsmen with care and excellence. I am truly proud of my framed prints which, if I can dare say it are just stunning.  It gives me great joy and satisfaction to create something so exclusive and beautiful.

Frames shown on this site are digitally generated and are an accurate colour reflection of actual frames however they mostly only reflect a 2D appearance. Actual Frames have wider mat boards and are richer, classier, and deeper in appearance.

Large Print                                   Medium Print                                  Small Print

Mat boards are slightly proportionally larger in the Medium frame and more so in the Small frame, the mat size to frame format can be gauged from the supplied frame and print sizes which are rounded to within a cm.

Seascape framed prints retain similar mat size to frame formats as displayed (left) for all three sizes.

Frames are Professionally made by local Craftsmen.

Frames are the highest quality and include high grade 87% UV acrylic, multi layered mat boards, spaced for a rich depth from glass appearance and are professionally handmade by local Craftsmen from Caloundra Fine Art and Framing Gallery.

Low volume and such high quality framing and printing is expensive and I have agonized over the high cost however the finished result speaks for itself, and gives me total peace of mine knowing that where ever that print is displayed it will be special enough to take pride of place, look absolutely magnificent and hopefully give a life time of pleasure in owning.

Many of my prints are totally unique; many are once in a life time images which I feel I have put my heart and soul into obtaining and are almost impossible for me or anyone else to replicate.

None of my prints are mass produced. I personally individually print every print. My income in life is from fishing; my photography and producing my prints is my joy and leisure which allows me time to continually strive for perfection.

Colours are as real to life as life can be. The blue of the pristine waters of the Pacific Ocean well offshore can be so bright and saturated that it almost appears illusory.

I only shoot RAW to allow post developing so as I can squeeze the utmost from the digital files. Every shot is different so this process allows me far more control over set in camera perimeters especially when dealing with harsh lighting and high contrast conditions frequently experienced at sea. It is a process which can be very time consuming but one which I enjoy.

One can expect superb natural colours with fine detail even in the high action images.

From the time I start with the RAW digital files my whole aim is to post develop and process the RAW files to produce a true to life print to reflect what I saw and experienced at sea. I am sometimes tempted to saturate colours vividly as some artists do however I can rarely get past the wonderful colours of nature itself, it seems to me as if nature has it right and my goal as a photographer is to reproduce faithfully what nature does best. I know I have it right when I can feel my heart start to race as I relive that magic and often exhilarating moment I see in my print.
