Extraordinary: 14th May 2011. Captured in the pre-dawn sky over SS Dickey, Venus (centre) is united by evening fixture Jupiter (left), as well as Mercury (right) and Mars (bottom) in union unlikely to occur again before 2056. The last time Australians saw such a show was in 1910. The light of a distant ship can be seen in a line below the planets.

I had a ‘window’ of only a few minutes to obtain this shot. A few minutes earlier and there was not the light I wanted and a few minutes later the Planets were fading and too high in the sky.

I had planned this shot while admiring the Planets on the way to sea the morning before.  Long 30 second exposure produced the shot I was eager for.
